ELEMENTS AND VISIONS:
2008
About the artist
The theme for 2008, Iluminations, has been developed through Annie’s visual language of expressionist and abstract symbols.
Annie’s work combines words and images. The silk works exploit the fabric’s magical reflective, luminous qualities. Created using permanent silk dyes applied with Chinese brushes, these paintings are steam fixed, durable, washable, and wearable. Long works are in the narrative form, exploring change, and have a directional perspective related to time. The Square works are Mandalas for contemplation and meditation, with labyrinthine and kaleidoscopic perspectives to explore dimensions of reality.
Visions, inspired by themes of Nova Magazine, combine luminous and symbolic pictures with inspiring verse.
The Divas express the elemental fertility of the vast and trackless ocean as the mother of all life on earth.
Mandalas express the countless fish that face extinction, exploited by human need and greed. The light and life giving Sun and radiant moon and stars, enliven heavens where fish swim and birds fly in the airy element.
Dream beaches are tranquil meditations on finding self at the edge of the limitless ocean.
Outback roads relate to the impact of development on the landscape. The paths lead to horizons of life’s journey.
Annie is a regular contributor to “Nova” and these works were inspired by the magazine’s monthly theme. Her paintings on board and canvas in acrylics and oils display the range of her skills to reveal reality translated by her personal vision.
By focusing on the elements of creation she reveals a vision of power and beauty, her art is an extension of her philosophies and actions.
Please enjoy this offering of words & works.
